Star Trek

Way back in star date 2226 Chris Pine (James. T) and Zachary Quinto (Spock) begin their emotional journey toward becoming members of star fleet. The initial action is slowly injected with emotional sedative, effectively building some of that deep compassion traditional 'Trekkies' have for the crew (due to years and hours of dedication to the show).

The crew quickly embark on a mission to save the ENTIRE Vulcan race from being obliterated by the bitter Romulans. Gradually old favourites are fed into the crew throughout the course of the film. The final ensemble then take a shot at saving earth after a spot of wormhole trouble from those meddlesome timetravellers. The action scenes are comparable to the ones seen in Star Wars without letting go of the cringe-worthy womanising and tragic deaths of 'that guy in the yellow'. Plenty of in jokes for long term fans including Scotty's "I'm giving her all she's got" exclamations whilst keeping the plot light with a fantastic youthful crew.

Notable comedy characters; the 'Scrappy-doo-like' Chekhov and the blasé genius Scotty played by Simon Pegg. The Romulan villains however did seem to be a mix between Lord Voldemort and a group of Polish workers at a rave.

All in all an engaging and exciting film with plenty of fist action, old fashioned misogynistic lads and a dose of emotional goo thrown in for good measure.

(Although I could be bias seeing as I've been brought up with James T Kirk, John Luke, Sisko and Janeway. Goodness me).

Lyn Hagan

Lyn Hagan is the creator of these images, she took them at zero gravity to study the effect the environment had on this cat. This year she wants to go to mars to do more, I'm rather looking forward to seeing them, as for the cat...

Having a Blast

In preparation for our 1950s theme degree show we made sure we were truly 'chrome-plated' and were 'made in the shade' for our end of year photos. Oh what goofs.

...And yes, the game really was that fun.
